When I first started my business, I looked for advice from ordinary people. I found them a lot more willing to share information, without requiring you to pay for an outlandish product or service that wasn't worth the pdf it was printed on.
One particular marketer at that time was Marty Foley. Marty worked at a job he hated and was determined to make his living online. In his free newsletter (discontinued) he shared everything he did, so his subscribers could learn to do the same thing while avoiding the same pitfalls he experienced. About a year after he quit his job, I quit mine.
The only exception I have to your post is where you said, "...by doing very little work". In fact, it was a lot of hard work that required many sacrifices. I don't think you're doing anyone any favors by glossing over the details. Building a business online is archived by a certain amount of equity — regardless of whether it is monetary in nature or good old fashioned sweat equity.
