Hi Claire,
What you are experiencing is certainly not uncommon and like most of us I'm sure that your frustration level is at maximum.
Unfortunately the more you try to do to beat the spammers the most persistant they become.
To check if you have been blacklisted you are best to go to http://www.dnsstuff.com and follow the prompts.
