At domaintools.com it shows the owner as being:

You don't need a membership to see this information. However to see past owners on their page here: http://domain-history.domaintools.com/, you need a membership, and I hear it only goes back as far as 2001. I've never used it.

I don't know of any other service that provides this information and offers free access. Sorry!
