Uploading Website

Hello: I've been trying to learn to create a website. I bought Your 1st Business Website and have followed the directions. I've also read lots of other books, articles, etc. about building websites. This has got to be the hardest thing I've every tried to do.
My problem is getting the pages uploaded. I created a couple of pages in Nvu and uploaded them to my website through FileZilla. They're not showing up. The only thing showing is a couple of lines I typed in originally and uploaded. Something is obviously not clicking in my head (or maybe there is something clicking in my head and that's the problem). Can anyone tell me why my pages won't upload or maybe give me a list of a few things I should check?
I appreciate it.
