Hi Andy,
Check with your webhost to see if you have some type of spam protection software available on your hosting account i.e. spam Assassin.
If not, you may have a filtering system, where you can filter out URLs, certain terms, etc...
If you are able to detect a specific IP address, and you are on a Linux hosting account running Apache Server Software, you may be able to use .htaccess to block a particular IP, or a range of IP addresses if need be. For more information on this method, please refer to the Apache documentation here.
