"Stopping" to offer support for software

Don't you think it is terrible when a company from whom you bought some equipment, such as a camera, or software, stops offering support for some version or other? and then, even on their own pages you cannot find the answer to a question?

I had bought a Kodak EasyShare camera long ago. It came with the software easyshare version 1.0. At the time, there was no Windows XP. In the meantime my laptop has Windows XP Home Edition Security Patch 1

I finally decided to try and solve this problem last year and contacted them. When I did, they said that easyshare software version 6.2 would work with my version of xp. However, they sent me version 6.4

I installed it only a few days ago but did not want to really connect it to my camera and install the additional "firmware software" which would update my camera too until I know for sure from them that both software would work with

(because, I saw on their pages that though they prompt you all the time to download the latest 7.1.0 version, this latest version works only with XP SP2.

I phoned and got incomprehensible people in India and one passed me to the other and the last one I got never lets the customer speak. When you think that you finally convinced him to shut up and let you ask the question, as soon as you begin, he again interrupts you saying repeatedly "Now you can speak".

I filled a contact form by Kodak and it took quite a few emails for them to finally understand that what they again ask me to download (easyshare version 7.1.0) requires XP SP2, which I do not have and do not want to install (will not explain
why here). And they keep on repeating that they stopped offering support for the Kodak EasyShare LS443 camera long ago so I must go to their FAQ's online.

Their tutorials, faq's etc. never make it clear if the easyshare software version 6.4 would work with my Windows Home Edition XP SP1 all my kodak package (camera, dock, etc.)

I thought maybe someone here would know. Do you?
