I was reading an article in the Financial Post this morning which questions if vial marketing is more of an outcome rather than a strategy. And we have certainly witnessed some fine examples of this over the last few years, with "pass it on", "one red paper clip", etc...
The author, Alexandra Lopez-Pacheco, mentions Tom Dickson, founder of a Utah-based blender company called Blendtec, who created some crazy videos. He said:
The quirky, humorous videos featured Mr. Dickson, in a lab coat demonstrating the power of his product by blending everything from rakes to iPhones, video cameras and marbles. The campaign went viral, riveting millions of viewers and, more importantly, spreading the word. The firm's sales reportedly rose 700%.
Maybe it's time to review some "home movies" and see what gems I might have hidden in there....
