I think the first thing I would do is write a couple of eBooks and launch them through an affiliate network. Of course you might want to build a website first...

Offer a few people a chance to read them for free in exchange for some honest testimonials.

Then hand deliver a letter to some local small businesses that use networks and offer them a free evaluation of their network and write them up a report on steps they could take to improve or fix it identifying any bottlenecks and offering potential solutions.

Have a letter head and business cards made up that says network specialist and author. Being an author too, adds credibility to service professionals.

Follow-up on the small businesses you did a report for and see if they would like to hire you to address some of the problems you may have found, or implement a healthier network.

It wouldn't hurt to have some car-magnets done up so when you're driving around you're always advertising your business. I also see some newspapers that offer a weekly column on computer tech tips. If you're a good writer, you might suggest this to a local newspaper, and offer to write the column.

I'm sure there are more ideas you can think of, but if you don't have any, this might give you some place to start.

Best of luck,
Steve MacLellan
