[Image] Dog Byte's Web site      Although a lot can be said for FREE web space, it's hard to have a professional looking web site when your home page has been created with an on-line editor. By using FTP you can upload multiple pages and images all at once; pages that have been designed by you with a much more professional look.

This tutorial will show you how this is done using a popular shareware program called WS_FTP. We will also show you how to set up a basic CGI, where to put it, how to upload it, how to chmod it. This is assuming you are using Unix as a server or a flavor of Unix such as Solaris or Linux.

There are several places to get this program. You can get it from the author's website at http://www.csra.net/junodj/ or if you're more comfortable downloading from a popular shareware site, you can get it at Download.com. If for some reason you don't care for either of these options, you can always do a search for it someplace else. Just pick your favorite shareware site and do a search. It is a very popular program and can be used easily by folks new to FTP. It also has some very powerful functions that the advanced user can take advantage of. You will be able to manage your CGI's with this program as well. You will be able to upload them and chmod them
